Shanghai Port expands sea-rail network to Xuancheng city
In a bid to strengthen its sea-rail intermodal transportation network, Shanghai Port in East China has added Xuancheng city – located in East China's Anhui province – onto its route.
On Feb 23, a train carrying 106 standard containers departed Xuancheng and arrived at Yangshan's Luchao Port Center in Shanghai within the day.
In particular, the train transported photovoltaic products bound for Europe, which will be transferred onto a large vessel from Shanghai Yangshan Port.
Xuancheng has experienced a rapid surge in photovoltaic product shipments – doubling its growth rate in recent years and exporting goods to 30 countries and regions worldwide.
The new Xuancheng - Shanghai Yangshan Port sea-rail intermodal direct train service will operate on a weekly basis, offering same-day deliveries and one-stop services.
The initiative is expected to provide efficient, convenient, economical and stable export logistics channels for foreign trade import and export enterprises in Xuancheng and its surrounding areas.
For its part, Shanghai Port is continuing to connect inland freight resources with the port's route resources through sea-rail intermodal transportation, particularly in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The effort aims to establish a robust two-way trade flow and a two-way power logistics network, creating a more comprehensive and efficient logistics ecosystem for the international shipping center.
